France, Germany and the United Kingdom issued a statement in which they stressed that Tehran’s demands condition the completion of the negotiations and, at this point, disbelieve that they intend to reach a common point. This happens after the United States expressed on Friday a setback in the negotiations. For its part, Iran called the statement “unconstructive.”
The negotiations to reinstate the nuclear agreement with Iran –JCPOA, for its acronym in English- continue to be deadlocked and the prospects are not favorable at the moment. This follows from the statement published jointly by the spokesmen for Foreign Affairs of France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The European trinomial warned this Saturday, September 10, that the talks with Tehran have reached “the limit” of its “flexibility” if the Asian country continues to develop “its nuclear program beyond any civil justification.”
In the shared statement, they underlined Iran’s “lack of cooperation” with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is required to terminate an investigation that the entity maintains into why uranium particles were found in three facilities not notified.
“These latest demands raise serious questions about Iran’s intentions and its determination to achieve a favorable outcome,” they said. They added that Iran “must fully and promptly cooperate in good faith with the IAEA.”
They concluded that “taking into account the Iranian rejection” to close the matter, they will consult international partners “on how to respond” to this situation. The United States, Russia and China are also part of it.
Shortly afterward, Iranian Foreign Minister Nasser Kanaani criticized the European countries’ statement as “unconstructive.” “The three countries must play a more active role in providing solutions to end the few disagreements that still remain,” he said according to the country’s media.
Last Friday, Washington acknowledged that there is a “setback” after the final proposal that Iran raised to restore the nuclear agreement, which was deactivated in 2015 after the Donald Trump administration unilaterally broke it and imposed sanctions.
The Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, stressed that “in recent weeks they have closed some gaps.” “Iran had walked away from some strange demands, demands unrelated to the JCPOA itself, but the recent proposal sets us back,” he explained.
The US diplomat stressed that they will not accept issues outside the JCPOA or that does not meet the “basic requirements.”
The United States sanctioned the Iranian intelligence minister
Washington punished the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security and its head, Esmail Khatib, after Albania denounced that Tehran was behind the attack last July where the Albanian government’s computer systems were paralyzed and had to suspend online public services.
In addition to that, the US government accuses Iran of being responsible for leaking documents from the Executive of Tirana and personal information of its inhabitants.
As a consequence, Albania decided last Wednesday that it will cut ties with the Middle Eastern nation.
Now, the properties and interests that the sanctioned have in the United States will be blocked and they will not be able to carry out any transaction.
