Trailer for ‘The Peripheral’: the absolute classic of science fiction William Gibson, adapted by the creators of ‘Westworld’

William Gibson invented cyberpunk, and other classic moments from his Ensanche Trilogy (Paper Labyrinth 3x06)

A good number of front-row names linked to science fiction come together in this new ‘The Peripheral’ produced by Amazon and which had already been announced for several months. Above all, of course, William Gibson, author of the novel on which the series is based and other classics such as ‘Neuromancer’. A true behemoth of the genre who we already gave a good account of in our latest installment of ‘Paper Labyrinth’.

On the other hand are, as producers, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, creators of ‘Westworld’. The highly praised HBO Max series was the first proof that Nolan and Joy had a keen eye on the classics of the genre. In fact, Joy’s directorial debut, the unfair box office flop ‘Reminiscence’, drank heavily from the mental worlds Gibson created in the 1980s.

The showrunner and screenwriter of the series, Scott B. Smith is the author of the novels on which his own screenplays for successful films such as ‘A Simple Plan’ or ‘The Ruins’ are based. But there is another attractive name behind the cameras: Vincenzo Natali, who has directed the first of the five episodes of the series, and was the director of films such as ‘Cube’‘Cypher’ or ‘Splice’.

Chloë Grace Moretz will lead the cast of this series that tells how the possibility of entering alternative realities allows this intelligent and resolute woman to investigate how her family came to break up. But she’s not actually entering a fictional world or a virtual reality video game, but rather a possible future.
