The Belarusian Army has started this Thursday maneuvers that will last until September 14 and that aim to carry out combat operations aimed at liberating areas temporarily occupied by “enemies”, within the framework of tensions in the area due to the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Armed Forces.
“The maneuvers will allow in practice to work on the execution of special combat operations to liberate the territory temporarily captured by the enemy,” said the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, before detailing that the maneuvers will take place in Brest, Minsk and Vitebsk, according to the Belarusian news agency BelTA.
Thus, he has stressed that the tasks will also include “recovering control of the state border in the areas of responsibility, giving air support to the troops, ensuring martial law by force and fighting against illegal armed groups and formations of the enemy” .
“The main objective of the exercise is to teach the military command bodies of the Armed Forces and other troops and military formations of Belarus continuous force management while carrying out tasks,” he concluded.
