The text of the new Chilean Constitution was rejected. Last Sunday, 13 million Chileans voted and 62% said no to what promised to be the most progressive Magna Carta in Latin America and that would make the Chilean State the guarantor of more than 100 rights. The right and some sectors of the left classified it as sectorized and as not attacking the political blockade in the country. Why did the campaign to approve the constitutional proposal fail? We analyze it in this program.
The Magna Carta focused on social rights, the environment, gender parity and the rights of indigenous people, but now it will have to be reconsidered, as promised by the Government of Gabriel Boric, who was already forced to make changes in his cabinet after only 6 months in power. We address this topic together with our guests:
– Guillermo Holzmann, political analyst and internationalist.
– Roberto Cárcamo, lawyer, analyst and academic from the Universidad Mayor.
