The Gaza Interior Ministry has executed five Palestinians this Sunday, two of them for collaborating with the Israeli occupation, while the other three have been charged with premeditated murder, according to the Palestinian daily ‘Maan News’.
“Based on the provisions of Palestinian law, and in compliance with the right of the homeland and the citizen, and in order to achieve public deterrence to achieve community security, the Ministry of Interior and National Security executed, this morning, Sunday, September 4, 2022, the death penalty against two convicted of collaborating with the occupation, and three convicted of criminal cases,” indicates the ministerial portfolio in a statement collected by the aforementioned newspaper.
The Ministry has indicated that these measures have been taken after “all procedural instances have been exhausted.”
The convicts charged with “communicating with hostile foreign parties” were arrested in 2009 and 2015 each, for violating the Palestinian Revolutionary Penal Code.
The third convict was arrested in 2004, accused of kidnapping and killing a woman. Later, he would have escaped from prison and would have committed another murder, kidnapping and robbery in 2009.
The fourth man was arrested in 2013 for intentional homicide due to robbery. While the fifth man was arrested this summer, in July 2022, accused of intentionally killing a man and a girl, and injuring eleven other people.
