Who are the CEOs of Indian origin leading technology companies?

Two of the best-known men in the tech world hail from India. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who was born in Hyderabad, India, in 1967. For his part, Sundar Pichai, the current leader of Google, was born in Madurai in 1972.

Although both studied part of their professional career in other parts of the world, their origin is in the Asian country.

Another name that has stolen the spotlight is Parag Agrawal, who was born in Ajmer, Rajasthan and is now the CEO of Twitter and who is dealing with one of the company’s most controversial moments, as he is fine-tuning the details of the legal dispute between the social network and businessman Elon Musk.

Shantanu Narayen is president and CEO of Adobe, one of the largest software companies, and is also Hindu. Like Nadella, Narayen was born in Hyderabad, India.

Arvind Krishna is an Indian-American business executive who serves as the Chairman and CEO of IBM. He has been the CEO of IBM since April 2020 and took over as chairman in January 2021, but before that he was one of the main architects of the Red Hat purchase, the largest acquisition in the company’s history.

Sanjay Mehrotra is another of the leaders at the head of a technology company and is Indian-American. He is currently the CEO of Micron Technology, but was a co-founder of SanDisk, where he served as chairman and CEO until its acquisition by Western Digital in 2016.

George Kurian is the CEO of NetApp, but prior to this, he was executive vice president of product operations on the same platform.

Rajeev Suri is the CEO of Nokia. Although he is not the CEO of the company, he is one of the highest level executives in the Finnish company and prior to this position he served as the CEO of Nokia Networks, the company’s largest telecommunications division.

Jayshree V. Ullal is one of the best known businesswomen in India and is the current President and CEO of Arista Networks, a cloud networking company responsible for network deployment.

According to the BBC, more than 70% of the H-1B visas (work permits for foreigners) issued are usually for Indian software engineers. In addition, citizens of Indian origin make up approximately 1% of the US population and 6% of the Silicon Valley workforce.
