According to local media, the individual was neutralized meters from the vice president while she was preparing to greet her followers. The incident occurred a few meters from the politician’s house and, according to some sources, the individual even pointed his gun at him, although he did not shoot.

The local press broke the news. Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kichner appears to have been the target of an attempted attack by an armed individual. Media such as ‘La Nación’ or ‘Clarín’ attribute the news of the events to the Government.

In the images released it can be seen that the escort of the Peronist leader detained the subject. At one point during the struggle, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner crouched down, while she was immobilizing the suspect.

According to newspapers such as ‘Clarín’, it would be a man of about 35 years of Brazilian nationality.

In statements to national television, the Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández, announced that the weapon was already in the hands of the authorities and that the suspect was arrested.

“Now the situation has to be analyzed by our people from Científica to evaluate the traces and the capacity and disposition that this person had,” he told the C5N chain.

It is not the first time that acts of verbal and physical violence have taken place against Kirchner in front of the vice president’s house, located in the Recoleta neighborhood.

In recent weeks, the vice president of the southern nation has been the protagonist of national politics after the Prosecutor’s Office requested 12 years in prison against her for alleged acts of corruption. An issue that has caused thousands of her followers to have gathered in front of her home in previous days to show support for the Peronist leader.
