The fifth meeting of the Statistical Coordination Group for the 2030 Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean was held virtually on August 11, 2022, as a space for reflection between the countries, United Nations agencies, funds and programs in the region and the Group’s Technical Secretariat on strategic issues of statistical monitoring of the SDGs in Latin America and the Caribbean. Representatives from ten countries and three entities of the United Nations system in the region participated.
The two topics analyzed were:
- Characteristics and operation of the new online information system for surveying national capacities for the production of SDG indicators
- Characteristics of the new collaborative platform as a mechanism to share knowledge and incorporate the countries of the region in strategic issues discussed at the meetings of the Interinstitutional and Expert Group on Indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals and the High Level Collaboration Group, Coordination and Capacity Building on Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Group approved the initiatives presented and gave its consent to advance in the implementation of the pilot stage of the information system on national capacities for the production of SDG indicators and in the inclusion and management of content for the collaborative platform on the SDGs. Statistical aspects of the 2030 Agenda in the region within the framework of the actions that the Knowledge Transmission Network is carrying out regarding these virtual spaces for exchange and dissemination.
