Geeknetic The AMD Ryzen 7000 arrive: All specifications, release date and prices

AMD has presented the first Ryzen 7000, micros that arrive manufactured at 5nm for the new AM5 platform with LGA1718 socket.

The wait has come to an end, AMD has already shown the arsenal with which it begins its journey in the Ryzen 7000 series, the latest and most efficient desktop processors. The manufacturing process to 5nm by TSMC they give them clear advantages over the competition, and that is that they come stomping with the use of DDR5, new AM5 platform and new 1718 pin socket. There are four first Ryzen with Zen 4 architecture, from lowest to highest power: Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 9 7950X.

Zen 4: AM5 platform and LGA1718 socket

These processors share the new high-efficiency Zen 4 architecture and come with a huge change from all older AMD processors: will use LGA, that is, the same system as Intel for the contact of the processor pins to the motherboard. Until now, AMD placed the pins on the processor itself and Intel on the contrary, on the motherboard. AMD goes over to Intel’s system and also places the pins on the motherboard with the new LGA1718 socket. There will be different chipsets for AM5 at launch, totaling 4 options.

Four AMD processors to start with Zen 4

  • The first of the 4 Zen 4 processors, the Ryzen 5 7600X, arrives with 6 cores and 12 threads processing. This model has a base speed of 4.7 GHz and in boost it reaches 5.3 GHz. It uses 38 MB of cache (between L2 and L3) and its TDP is 105 W.
  • Going up the ladder we find the Ryzen 7 7700X, increasing to 8 cores and 16 threads, with speeds of 4.5 GHz and 5.4 GHz in turbo. The 105 W TDP is maintained and its cache increases to 40 MB.
  • Next on the list is the Ryzen 9 7900X, with 12 cores and 24 threads. This model arrives with speeds of 4.7 GHz and 5.6 GHz in turbo, increasing the TDP up to 170 W and the cache up to 76 MB.
  • The most powerful of all is the Ryzen 9 7950X with its 16 cores and 32 threads. This model reaches 5.7 GHz in turbo and maintains nominal speeds at 4.5 GHz. Likewise, it maintains 170 W of TDP and its cache increases to 80 MB.

What’s new in AM5 and Zen 4

AMD has shown us some details of the performance of the processors with Zen 4: increase in the CPI by 13% on average (compared to Zen 3), 5% in gaming (compared to the Core i9-12900K) and more encouraging data. You can see much more about performance in this other news.

More news that we see in the AM5 platform is the use of memory profiles for overclocking, similar to Intel’s XMP but now for AMD: AMD Expo. In this way, users will have guaranteed high-performance profiles and manufacturers will incorporate them free of charge on their motherboards.

Finally, AMD has hinted that there will be Ryzen 7000 processors that make use of 3D V-Cache vertical stacking technology in order to improve performance and data flow between the different L3 cache cores.

The AMD Ryzen 7000 will arrive on September 27 and start at $299.

Cores/Threads Speeds (GHz) Cache L2+L3 (MB) TDP(W) Price (Dollars)
Ryzen 5 7600X 6/12 4.7/5.3 38 105 299
Ryzen 7 7700X 8/16 5.4/4.5 40 105 399
Ryzen 9 7900X 12/24 4.7/5.6 76 170 549
Ryzen 9 7950X 16/32 4.5/5.7 80 170 699
