Microsoft has expanded the Xbox Series game console repair service X/S with the availability, both in its official store and in iFixit, of official spare parts with the aim of avoiding technological waste.
The technology firm has set out to achieve a series of sustainability goals by 2030, being “a zero waste, carbon negative and water positive company”, which also extends to the video game area.
“Finding ways to reduce the environmental footprint of games not only helps the environment, but also creates benefits for our collective community of players,” says Xbox Director of Gaming Sustainability, Trista Patterson, in a statement shared on the official xbox blog.
To do this, Microsoft has expanded repair program to facilitate users official spare partswhich will be available in the Microsoft Store and in the Microsoft Repair Center on iFixit.
Genuine parts are no longer limited to the controller, but in these online stores you can find repair tool kits, HDMI ports, cases, WiFi boards and the power button, among others.
Added to this, only in the United States, is the possibility of repairing Xbox consoles in person at uBreakiFix by Asurion establishments, and not only through the Microsoft Store. The company also remembers, updates and configuration options that have contributed to reduce energy consumption of this ‘hardware’.
