Russian authorities announced this Thursday the arrest of two more people for their alleged role in the December murder of the head of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Russian Armed Forces, Igor Kirillov, and one of his assistants. in a bomb attack in the capital, Moscow.

Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said that after the arrest of the main suspect, identified as Uzbek citizen Ajmadzhon Kurbonov, security agencies were able to locate two other men who allegedly acted as accomplices in the attack.

Thus, he has indicated that these people are Batujan Tochiyev and Ramazan Padiyev, who “acting after receiving instructions from an unidentified person, rented a room in a hostel in the Moscow region for Kurbonov through the Internet in which he went to take refuge after commit the terrorist attack.”

Petrenko has highlighted in his statement, published by the organization through his Telegram account, that the fourth unidentified person “transferred funds to Tochiyev’s account to pay this rent”, while “Padiyev went in person to the hostel, made payment and filmed the interior and exterior of the building.

“After the terrorist attack was committed, the organizer of the crime told Kurbonov the address of the room rented for him and gave him the video recorded by Padiyev so that he could locate himself,” he said, while emphasizing that the man was arrested when he was heading to the place.

Previously, the Federal Security Service (FSB) had stated that Kurbonov “arrived in Moscow, received a high-powered homemade explosive and placed it on an electric scooter that he parked near the entrance to Kirillov’s house” after receiving instructions of the Ukrainian special services.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by Ukraine’s special services, which stated that Kirillov “was a war criminal and a completely legitimate target.” The attack was carried out a day after the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) indicted Kirillov for his alleged responsibility in the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine.

Since 2017, Kirillov has headed the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops, in charge of combating the effects of nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical weapons, generally known as weapons of mass destruction, and also of civil security operations in case of nuclear, bacteriological, chemical or environmental accident.
