The German Ministry of Defense stops publishing on X because it does not facilitate “the exchange of arguments”

The Ministry of Defense and the German Armed Forces have announced that starting this Wednesday they will stop publishing on their respective official accounts on X, as they consider that “the objective exchange of arguments” on the aforementioned social network is “increasingly difficult.” .

The Ministry explained in a statement that this decision means that it will no longer disseminate messages in a “proactive” manner, although it reserves the right to respond in “exceptional” circumstances, for example to confront “disinformation campaigns.”

Likewise, it has indicated that it will disclose decisions that it may consider relevant through a WhatsApp channel and will use other social networks and portals for the sake of “transparent and broad communication.”

The announcement coincides with the controversy opened by messages of support from magnate Elon Musk, owner of X and ally of the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, in favor of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) formation. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is among those who have criticized this public support.
