Three other ships loaded with Ukrainian grain depart from the ports of Odessa

Aug. 29 () –

The Turkish Ministry of Defense has reported this Monday that three other ships loaded with grain have left the Odessa region.

According to the latest balance, 54 ships–with more than a million tons of grain–have already left the Ukrainian ports with grain for the Joint Coordination Center, where joint inspections are carried out at the entrances and exits in order to to ensure road safety.

The ships, which cross the Black Sea towards the Bosphorus Strait, are examined before entering Ukraine to ensure that they do not carry weapons or combat material.

The delivery of millions of tons of cereals, on which developing countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East depend to fill their pantries, had been suspended since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

The UN, which together with Turkey has mediated this agreement between Ukraine and Russia, has defended the agreement as a key tool to alleviate food shortages globally and hopes to take advantage of its symbolism so that Russians and Ukrainians can sit down table in the future to discuss other matters.
