MADRID Jan. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The UN humanitarian coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territories and special deputy coordinator for the peace process in the Middle East, Muhannad Hadi, launched this Sunday from Gaza City a call for a ceasefire between the Israeli Army and the Palestinian Movement. Islamic Resistance (Hamas) in the Palestinian enclave.
“I call on everyone to end this war. I am here, in Gaza, in a church in Gaza. It goes without saying that churches, mosques, civilians and all civilian infrastructure must be protected. They will only be able to protect themselves with the end of this war, with a ceasefire,” he declared through a video in which he appeared surrounded by displaced children.
Hadi stressed that “these children deserve to return to their homes”, since “they are the hope of the future” and “without education, without adequate healthcare, there will be no bright future.” “We are praying for peace,” he said.
The Israeli Army unleashed an offensive against Gaza after attacks on October 7, 2023, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped. The Israeli attacks already leave more than 46,500 Palestinians dead, to which are added more than 810 deaths in the West Bank and East Jerusalem at the hands of Israeli security forces and attacks carried out by settlers.
