Dozens of people could have been trapped under the rubble of a two-story construction site at Kannauj station, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The incident occurred on Friday, when there were about 35 people working there. Police, Railway and rescuers have so far managed to rescue 23 workers, reports Indian television NDTV.
“Preliminary information suggests that the incident occurred when one of the slabs sank,” said the district magistrate, Shubhrant Kumar Shukl, according to the Indian news agency PTI.
“The priority is to rescue the trapped people. We are mobilizing all available resources for the rescue,” he added.
