MADRID Jan. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Sudanese Army has made various advances in the state of Gezira, located south of the capital, Khartoum, within the framework of a new offensive in the area against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), within the framework of the war unleashed in the African country in April 2023.
The Armed Forces would have taken control of the town of Haj Abdalá and several villages located in its surroundings, about 20 kilometers from the state capital, Uad Madani, which appears as the main objective of the offensive, as reported by the Sudanese portal of Sudan Tribune news.
In addition, they have managed to take over Mahla, Talha and Kumar al Jaliyín, as well as Shabarqa after “attempted combats” with the RSF, as confirmed by Basam abu Satur, a field commander in the Al Fau axis, without the paramilitary group has spoken for now about these clashes.
The war between the Army and the RSF broke out in April 2023 due to strong disagreements regarding the integration process of the paramilitary group – now declared terrorist – within the Armed Forces, a situation that caused the derailment of the open transition after the overthrow of Omar Hasan al Bashir’s regime in 2019.
