A new Russian attack with guided aerial bombs on the Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhia leaves at least 13 dead, Ukrainian authorities reported this Wednesday.
“Unfortunately, 13 people have died. My condolences to his family and loved ones. The number of victims may still increase,” announced the president, Volodymyr Zelensky, through his Telegram channel.
According to local authorities, at least 18 other people were injured in the attack, in which two guided aerial bombs fell on one of the busiest streets in the Shevchenkivski district of the regional capital.
At least four of them are hospitalized in critical condition, according to the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov.
The videos published by Zelensky and local authorities They show numerous bodies lying in the street among the rubble, as well as a damaged tram and numerous civilian cars and burned buildings.
“There is nothing more cruel than bombing a city knowing that normal civilians are going to suffer,” Zelensky said.
Guided aerial bombs like those used in the attack are known for their powersince each one of them weighs between 250 kilos and several tons, and because of their lack of precision.

The only way to prevent these bombings is shoot down the Russian planes that launch them and that are outside the range of most anti-aircraft defenses, or destroy them with Western-made missiles such as ATACMS or Storm Shadow at their bases in Russia.
Ukraine has few air defense systems of this type and does not risk using them near the front, where they become valuable targets for Russia.
