LG unveils its new OLED televisions for 2025, which reach 165 Hz and debut the VESA ClearMR 10000 certification

CES 2025 is one of the biggest events of the year for LG. Although the South Korean manufacturer usually holds specific events for some of its products, the Las Vegas fair is its particular big week, the time when it presents the most cutting-edge televisions for the new year. In this edition, naturally, new features abound again, with four OLED models and several world firsts.

According to the official statement, LG’s 2025 range will consist of the B5, C5, G5 and M5 models. Not everyone will enjoy the same improvements or firsts, since it is a very staggered catalogue, with the G5 and M5 being the most cutting-edge.

The M5, for example, has improved the reliability of its Zero Connect Box, a device that houses all physical connections in a separate box that communicates wirelessly with the television so that the consoles can be installed (for example) elsewhere. According to LG, the new box is capable of transmitting “wireless audio and video at up to 144 Hz without latency or loss of image or sound quality.”

As for the LG G5, the company notes that the latest revision of Brightness Booster Ultimate technology is brighter than before, providing up to three times more light than “conventional OLED models” (LG, astutely, does not give figures so we can contrast the improvement) even though it dispenses with MLA technology. It also stands out for being the first 4K television with variable refresh rate at 165 Hz, thus overcoming the 144 Hz barrier.

Another first for the LG G5 is the certification VESA ClearMR 10000, which denotes high image definition in dynamic scenes. This honor was until now reserved for a small number of PC monitors, which should imply high quality for gaming.

These improvements affect the 55, 65, 77 and 83-inch G5s. The 48 and 97 inch models, in principle, are not as bright nor do they operate at 165 Hz.

As usual, all new LG OLED TVs will benefit from a new image processor (Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen2) and will have a strong emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence for all types of functions. Proof is the fact that they come with an integrated chatbot and even native support for Copilot, which is integrated into a faster and simpler version of webOS (it is not the only integrated Microsoft product, since they will also have Xbox Cloud Gaming).

LG will provide launch dates and prices as the time for marketing each model approaches.
