Nearly 70 migrants missing when a boat heading to Spain sank off the Moroccan coast

Around 70 migrants have disappeared, including 25 Malians, when a boat in which they were heading to Spain sank in Moroccan territorial waters, as announced this Thursday by the Government of Mali.

The Ministry of Malians Abroad and African Integration has detailed that the event took place last Thursday (December 19), when 80 people boarded an improvised boat and of which only eleven survivors have been found.

“Among the survivors there are nine Malians. It should be noted, unfortunately, that 25 young Malians are formally identified among the (deadly) victims,” ​​explained Minister Mossa Ag Attaher, through a statement published on the profile of the social network Facebook. of the ministerial portfolio he directs.

Ag Attaher has reported that it has created a crisis unit to monitor the situation and that it will be in charge of reporting on developments. “In this painful circumstance, the minister (…) presents, on behalf of the highest authorities and on his own behalf, his deepest condolences to the afflicted families and prays for the rest of the souls of the deceased,” he stated. .
