With the Apple M4 on the marketalong with its higher power variants and more powerful GPUs M4 Pro and M4 MaxApple is already thinking about next generation of its Apple Silicon processors. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, an expert in this type of products and leaks, the new Apple M5 will have the same 3 variants seen previously Pro, Max and Ultrawhich will arrive with technology and performance similar to that of a processor servers.
The most powerful chips of the next generation, the Apple M5 Pro, Max and Ultra, will be made with a TSMC's improved 3-nanometer process, the N3P. This new process will also offer improvements in energy efficiency, reducing consumption between a 5 and 10% compared to the N3E used in the Apple M4. It also promises a superior performance of up to 5% regarding the production of these new processors.
Apple will introduce a system for design of this processor seen in the server processors, SoIC-mHwhich uses a horizontal packaging allowing reduce space necessary between a 30 and 50% lessand that will also have an impact on less warming and fewer limitations derived from space. There is also talk of CPU and GPU separately for these Apple M5, with improvements on the performance of applications that use Artificial intelligence.
The Apple M5 should be ready for the first half of 2025leaving for the second half the versions Pro and Maxwhile the Ultra will go to 2026.
