With Intel in free fall –The company has already lost 60% of its value in 2024-, the rumors of a possible sale to another giant have not been long in coming. In recent months we have seen information that pointed to Qualcomm’s interest in acquiring what was once one of the most valuable companies in the world. Rumors of purchase by Apple, Samsung and also Broadcom followed.
However, it seems that the rumors have either not been true, or the companies have lost interest when seeing the company’s situation and the difficulties that an acquisition of that caliber would have in order to be approved by the regulatory authorities.
Qualcomm already confirmed that they were not interested in acquiring Intel, and now it is Broadcom that falls off the chip giant’s list of suitors.
According to its CEO, Hock Tan, its purchasing policy is not to carry out hostile operations, that is, it only buys companies that have previously offered to be acquired, and Nobody from Intel has asked them.
Large acquisitions are not something new for Broadcom and, in fact, the company tried to acquire Qualcomm in 2018 until the US administration, under the orders of the controversial Donald Trump, prevented it.
