MADRID Dec. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A member of the Palestinian Presidential Guard identified as Saher Faruk Yumaa Arhil has died and two more have been injured this Sunday morning in clashes with militants in the Jenin refugee camp, in the northern West Bank.
Arhil “was martyred this morning while carrying out national duty after he and his companions were subjected to treacherous shooting by outlaws,” reports the official Palestinian news agency, WAFA.
A spokesman for the security forces, General Anuar Rajab, highlighted the work of the “heroic martyr” who “persecuted those who break the law and applied the rule of law to preserve the security of our people.”
Rajab has asked for cooperation from society to persecute this “group of deviants” who “threaten the security and stability of the country.” “The arm of justice reaches out to anyone who dares to put the lives of our people at risk.”
The Al Fatah party, to which the current Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, belongs, has also spoken out to express its support for the security forces. “The blood of the martyrs of the security forces will not be shed in vain,” he warned before expressing his condolences to the family.
