British Prime Minister asks Trump to support Ukraine

MADRID Dec. 19 () –

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has asked the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, this Wednesday to support Ukraine, within the framework of the Russian invasion that began on February 24, 2022, after he criticized publicly the policy of the Joe Biden Administration towards kyiv, especially the permission for it to use US missiles in Russian territory.

“(Starmer) has reiterated the need for allies to stand with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and ensure that Ukraine is in the strongest possible position,” reads a brief statement from Downing Street, in which he also underlined the need to work together to “ensure peace and security” in the Middle East.

Trump and Starmer, who have had their second telephone conversation since the magnate’s victory in the November 5 elections, have agreed to stay in touch and see each other “as soon as possible.” Furthermore, the British head of government has congratulated the future American president on his new appointments to his cabinet.

The United States, during Biden’s mandate, has been the greatest defender of Ukraine, to whom it has sent military aid packages valued at billions of euros. The United Kingdom has also been a strong supporter of kyiv and, in fact, Starmer was one of those who pressured Biden to allow the use of Western-made missiles within Russia’s borders.
