The national workshop on National Inclusion Accounts is inserted in the framework of the activities of the United Nations Development Account (Tranche 15) “Inclusive and sustainable economic growth in a society for all ages in the post-COVID-19 era in Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean.” This project is coordinated at a global level by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DAES) of the United Nations, and in Latin America and the Caribbean by CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC. The Latin American and Caribbean countries selected for the project are Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Uruguay. The objective is to improve the capacity of governments to develop evidence-based intergenerational policies that support inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the context of population aging.
In this context, this workshop sought to familiarize the national technical team of Colombia with the framework and methodology of the National Transfer Accounts (CNT) and the National Inclusion Accounts (CNI). In addition, training was provided in the construction of National Inclusion Accounts (CNI) with practical quantitative exercises. This was done for different disaggregations, such as educational level, income level and family structure. These disaggregations are crucial to address the objectives of inclusion and sustainability in the context of great inequality and population aging.
The opening session featured welcoming words from Andrea Ramírez, Deputy Director of DANE Colombia; Ángela María Penagos, Director of the ECLAC Office in Bogotá; Zulma Sosa, Coordinator of the Population and Development Area of CELADE – Population Division of ECLAC; and Luis Mora, UNFPA Representative.
