MADRID Dec. 15 () –
The Russian authorities have announced this Sunday new advances by their forces within the framework of the offensive in the Ukrainian province of Donetsk (east), where in the last few hours two other towns have been taken, without kyiv having commented on the matter.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has indicated in a statement published on its Telegram account that its troops have taken control of the towns of Pushkino and Vesyoli Gai, consolidating advances that have been taking place in the area for several months.
Russian troops have made significant gains in the east of the country in recent months, increasing pressure on Ukrainian forces amid fears of a collapse of the eastern front by military authorities in kyiv.
Donetsk, along with Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson – all of them partially occupied within the framework of the invasion – were annexed in October 2022 by Russia, a measure not recognized by the international community that was added to the annexation in 2014 of the Crimean peninsula by Moscow.
