Law against noise: the details of the regulations approved by the Senate

In the last hours, the Congress of the Republic approved a law that against noise and promote hearing health and citizen respect. ¿What does this regulation consist of that may be sanctioned by Gustavo Petro in the immediate future?

Please note that “The new legislation aims to establish tools and guidelines for the formulation of an Acoustic Quality Policy in the country, guaranteeing an environment free of the harmful impacts of noise,” they highlight on the Senate’s official website.

“The articles of the project establish the importance of protecting flora and fauna, especially to the birds that live in the green areas of cities and municipalities, from the adverse effects of excessive noise,” the legislative branch explains.

They also detail that there are probably some cities that will benefit from this type of regulations.

In this line, Daniel Carvalho spoke with The Time to refer to the scope of this proposal that hopes to be sanctioned by the highest leader of all Colombians.

“We were removing the fear that some unions wanted to instill by saying that it was a project that will end employment.”with concerts, with festivals or with discos. None of that is true. There were also some interesting discussions with unions such as Camacol and Fenalco,” he said.

Law against Noise: there will be better tools for authorities and the Police

He also stressed that this has been a problem of citizen culture. “As for what is coming, the Police and municipal authorities are going to have more and better tools.” to identify and sanction problematic neighbors through fines, closure of the commercial establishment,” he assured.

“One of the most important actors here is the citizens, we must complain without shame or fear. You have to call the police, the mayor’s office. Each municipality will have to determine what the care route is, such as lines specialized in this problem. In Medellín, for example, an anti-noise squad is going to be created,” he concluded.
