ECLAC will update economic growth projections for the countries of the region at the launch of its latest annual report for 2024

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present its annual report on Wednesday, December 18 (flagship) Preliminary Balance of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2024in which it examines the behavior of the region’s economies during the current year, and updates growth estimates and other economic indicators for 2024 and 2025.

In particular, the document will present new estimates of gross domestic product (GDP) growth for the region and all its countries in 2024 and 2025. In this edition the report analyzes the economic and social dynamics of the year that has just ended, and discusses the risks and policy challenges that the region will face in 2025 to overcome the trap of low capacity for growth in which Latin America and the Caribbean is mired.

The presentation of the report will be carried out through a hybrid press conference (in-person and virtual) that will be led by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC, and Daniel Titelman, Director of the Economic Development Division of the regional organization of the United Nations. United, at 11:00 am local (UTC/GMT -3:00).

According to the report, by 2024 and 2025 the dynamics of a low growth rate in the countries of the region are expected to continue. The specific results of the main regional economic indicators will be announced by ECLAC at the press conference.
