AOOSTAR has launched a new dock to convert conventional graphics cards into external graphics for desktop, mini-pc or laptops. This is a model that allows you to place the graphics card on top without any box or element that restricts its cooling, so there is no size limitation either.
Unlike the AOOSTAR AG01 that arrived in the middle of this year, This new AOOSTAR AG02 multiplies the power of its power supply by two integrated to reach 500 W, being able to power GPUs with greater power and opening the range towards more powerful models from higher ranges.
This striking GPU case, or rather “stand”, has a PCI Express X16 port that communicates with the PC through the use of an OCuLink connector. This standard allows the use of a bandwidth of up to 64Gbps (PCIe 4.0 x4) to limit as much as possible the bottleneck that usually appears in this type of external graphics solutions.
In fact, the company recommends graphics cards such as the AMD Radeon RX 7700XT or the NVIDIA RTX 4070 and lower models so as not to limit the performance of the GPUs too much. The maximum recommended TBP of the card is 350 W, as the rest of the power can be used to power the connected equipment itself. In fact, the integrated USB4 connector allows you to deliver up to 100 W.
On the company’s website it can be purchased in pre-booking for a price of 219 dollars, a fairly tight amount if we take into account the price of this type of solutions. Naturally, the graphics card will be the responsibility of the buyer.
