The alliance announces its entry into the strategic city of Homs amid new denials from the Syrian Army

Dec. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Military Operations Command, the Syrian opposition alliance led by the jihadist organization Hayat Tahir al Sham, has promised this Saturday that it will not resort to the use of any arsenal of chemical weapons it could find in its offensive to overthrow the country’s president, Bashar to Assad.

Hayat Tahir al Sham, considered a terrorist group by the United Nations and the United States, has been presenting itself for days as a conciliatory group to clear up the international community’s serious doubts about the intentions of an organization directly linked in its origins to Al Qaeda.

“We express our full readiness to cooperate with the global community regarding the oversight of these weapons,” the group says in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.

Last year, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) published a report finding the Assad regime responsible for the deadly chemical weapons attack in Douma, which killed dozens of civilians in April 2018. a document that refuted the Russian claim that the attack was carried out by opposition forces.

ENTRY INTO HOMS

The Military Operations Command has also announced that its forces have finally managed to enter the strategic city of Homs, in the east of the country, in the last few hours, a key stopover in its offensive towards the north of the capital, Damascus.

“After several night operations, the remnants of the criminal regime have fled the city of Homs, and we are touring the city in preparation to declare it completely liberated, God willing,” they say in another statement, also published on Telegram.

In addition, the alliance claims that its forces have freed more than 3,500 prisoners from the city’s military prison. “We renew our commitment to our people to free all detainees from the prisons of tyranny,” he assured.

At almost the same time, the Syrian Ministry of Defense has rejected this information. “There is no truth in the news that the terrorist media platforms have transmitted about the entry of terrorists into the city of Homs,” according to their latest statement on Facebook.

“In Homas the situation is safe and stable and our armed forces are spread throughout the city and are focused with preventive defense lines and reinforced with different types of weapons,” adds the Ministry.
