Honda recalls almost 206,000 trucks due to fuel filling system problems

Honda has recalled nearly 206,000 SUVs in the United States because the fuel filler neck can separate from the filler tube in an accident, causing fuel leaks and raising the risk of fire.

The measure affects certain 2023 and 2024 Passports and some 2023 to 2025 Pilots.

Honda said in documents released Thursday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a flaw in the installation process prevented complete connection between the neck and the tube.

The automaker indicated that it has a warranty claim and there are no reports of injuries between December 2018 and November 20 of this year. The documents did not mention any reports of fire.

Dealers will inspect vehicles and properly connect the neck tube to the fuel filler tube if necessary. Owners will be notified by letter starting January 6.
