According to OpenAI, the operation of this model “feels” qualitatively different from other artificial intelligence models, due to its ability to “think” before answering the questions asked.
The company released a preview version in September of this year and has since improved to become a “faster, more powerful and accurate” reasoning model in terms of coding and mathematics.
This product is also capable of reasoning around images and will be “more concise in its thought processes” to offer faster response times, according to company claims based on internal testing.
“In evaluations by external experts, the o1 pro model produces more reliable, accurate and complete answers, especially in aspects such as data science, programming and case law analysis,” a company spokesperson told TechCrunch. “In particular, we saw a 75% reduction in errors on the easiest coding proficiency questions.”
With the $200 subscription, users will also have unlimited access to OpenAI o1, GPT-4, and advanced voice mode, as well as a version of the chatbot that uses more computing resources to provide better answers to more difficult problems.
OpenAI announced scholarship program for its tools
This decision by the company marks a move with the aim of continuing to finance the development of its products, while preparing its restructuring into a for-profit company.
Additionally, to give more people access to this tool, OpenAI announced a 10-scholarship program for ChatGPT Pro, from which it will provide subscriptions to medical researchers at leading institutions, with plans for additional scholarships in various disciplines.
It is worth mentioning that the ChatGPT Plus subscription, which costs $20 per month, will continue to be available and will also maintain early access to various functions, such as access to all the company’s models, except for o1.
