The Prime Minister of Moldova demands the resignation of his Energy Minister for his management of the crisis

The country is going through an energy crisis derived from the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, which was its main gas supplier.

Dec. 5 () –

The Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, has demanded this Thursday the resignation of his Minister of Energy, VĂctor Parlikov, and two other senior officials of companies linked to the sector, for their poor management of the energy crisis that has affected the country since the outbreak. of the war in Ukraine.

As Recean explained, Parlikov must resign because he has made “mistakes” that have led Moldova to a “crisis” situation. Along with the minister, the head of the Moldovan government has asked for the resignation of the director of the state-owned Energocom, Victor Benzari, and the leader of the supervisory board of the gas company Moldovagaz, Sergei Tofilat.

Recean has accused Benzari of not having purchased gas when possible, “hiding behind bureaucratic procedures” and thus making it impossible to guarantee supply during the winter. On the other hand, Tofilat is accused of “blocking the purchase of gas by the responsible institutions at a time when it was more profitable.”

Thus, at the time Minister Parlikov presents his resignation from office, it will be Recean himself who will perform the duties of Energy Manager. The president has announced that he will ask Parliament to declare a state of emergency in the energy sector, according to the news portal Newsmaker.

“As I already said, we are facing a difficult winter with many risks, and I have decided to ask Parliament to introduce a state of emergency in the energy sector, starting December 16 until the gas supply situation to our customers improves. citizens,” he said.

Moldova has experienced an energy crisis situation since the outbreak of war in its neighboring country Ukraine, at the end of February 2022. The country was mostly supplied with Russian gas that now does not arrive or which they have renounced in response to the invasion.
