China’s Ministry of Commerce said it will take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights of Chinese companies after the United States added seven Chinese entities to its export control list.

Ministry spokesman Shu Jueting made the comments at a press conference on Thursday.

The newly added Chinese entities were mainly in the aerospace and related technology sectors. The US Commerce Department said the move will strictly restrict entities’ access to commodities, software and technologies with additional licensing requirements.

US authorities said the move was based on so-called “activities contrary to the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.”

Shu said the United States has repeatedly expanded the concept of “national security” and abused political measures such as export controls, using the power of the state to suppress and contain companies and institutions from other countries.

The US Department of Commerce said the move will strictly restrict entities’ access to commodities, software and technologies with additional licensing requirements.

The US action has seriously damaged normal economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and US companies, Shu added.

The US action against China also undermines market rules and the international economic and trade order, and poses a serious threat to the stability of global industrial and supply chains, he said.
