MADRID Dec. 4 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli authorities handed over this Wednesday to Jordan the bodies of the two “terrorists” killed during an incursion carried out in October in the Dead Sea area, where they carried out an armed attack that left two soldiers wounded.
“The bodies of the two terrorists who crossed from Jordan on October 18 and carried out an armed attack against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) south of the Dead Sea have been returned to Jordan,” the Army said.
Thus, he noted in a statement that the handover, which has already been confirmed by the Jordanian authorities, took place during the night of Tuesday, before adding that the decision was taken by the Israeli Government.
For its part, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry has indicated that the dead, identified as Amer Qauas and Hosam abú Gazalé, are already in the country, where they have been handed over to their relatives for their burial.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Sufian Qudá, has stated in statements given to the Jordanian state news agency, Petra, that Amman has followed the case in order to achieve the return of the bodies, delivered through the King Hussein Bridge crossing. /Allenby.
The event took place just a few weeks after the death of three Israeli guards after being shot at the border crossing by a Jordanian driver who opened fire upon arriving at the scene. Haman has disassociated himself from both events, blaming them on ‘lone wolves’.
