An Islamabad court grants Jan bail and prevents his detention until September 1

An Islamabad court has granted former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Jan bail and prevented police from detaining him until September 1 for a terrorism case in which he is accused of making “threatening” comments against senior officials. and a judge in a public demonstration.

The former prime minister has decided to appear in court to request bail, for which Judge Raja Jawad has approved this Thursday that Jan cannot be arrested until September 1 in exchange for presenting 100,000 rupees (455 euros), according to the DAWN news portal.

The Islamabad High Court had already granted the former prime minister bail until August 25 after his legal team, consisting of lawyers Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry, filed a petition on Monday.

Jan is registered under Section 7 of the Anti-Terror Law, which carries “punishment for acts of terrorism”, in relation to his comments at his rally in Islamabad, where he asked for the support of the Army after denouncing police abuses against his main adviser, Shahbaz Gill. , who came to ensure that he was the victim of sexual abuse in custody in a case of alleged sedition.

The former Pakistani prime minister hinted during his speech that the police were obeying “orders from above” in their alleged torture of Gill. “Every time we’ve asked them they’ve told us that they weren’t to blame for anything, that they were kicked in the ass to get them to follow orders,” he said.

During his speech, the former prime minister also reiterated that he had been the victim of an international conspiracy, with the collusion of the security forces, which led to the motion of censure that cost him his job last April.
