The Virtual Mobile Operator (OMV) has expanded its telephone services to the United States through Yo Mobile Sin Límites, a product that encompasses the operation of Mexico with that of the American Union. The purpose of the new vertical is to allow Mexicans who work in the United States and vice versa, to acquire their own telephone lines and for family members in order to facilitate the management and payment of connectivity services from a single account.

Data from the Migration Policy Institute indicate that in the American Union the Latino population amounts to 47.8 million, of which 10.9 million correspond to Mexicans.

The OMV’s new bet will allow consumers to have 5G technology and eliminate roaming, that is, the extra charge for each data downloaded on a foreign network, because it will use the infrastructure assets of a mobile company that operates in the United States. United as in Mexico, creating a sort of single network.

“This allows eliminating the border of operations so that users in the United States and in Mexico can use their megabytes or make calls as if it were a single area and this prevents more expenses from being incurred,” explained Rodolfo García, president of Yo Mobile Américas. .

Introducing mobile telephone services in the Hispanic segment is a strategy little explored by the large operators in Mexico, but with great possibilities. The consulting firm Nielsen has highlighted that the Hispanic community has become one of the largest consumers of connectivity services, positioning itself as an “interesting opportunity for those who work in the mobile sector,” especially at a time when telecommunications companies They study alternatives to make 5G profitable.

“With a population that will represent more than half of the population growth in the United States in the coming years, its current purchasing power is 1.4 trillion dollars and is expected to grow more,” details Nielsen.

Due to this situation, Yo Mobile has described the Sin Limites vertical as ‘disruptive’, since it fills an area of ​​opportunity within telecommunications due to the increase in the Latino population in the United States.

“We did a Focus Group and 55% of the participants said that it is necessary to have a site that allows them to manage their expenses from one country to another and even their telephone lines and doing it in a single account helps to make connectivity expenses more efficient” said the director of Yo Mobile.

Expanding the operation to the United States will allow the company to more organically strengthen its client portfolio because in the country it is increasingly complex to add users due to a greater range of options such as MVNOs such as Bait and giants such as América Móvil.

The company has invested 50 million dollars for the Mexico operation, but for Yo Moble Sin Límites it will inject 20 million dollars. The OMV has 127,410 subscribers in the country, but plans to add 63,705 subscribers in the United States by the end of 2025, which will be added to the 127,410 lines it currently has in the country.
