This is what he stated in his first words before the plenary meeting in Strasbourg (France) at the beginning of a three-hour debate with the MEPs who will later have to vote on Von der Leyen’s new team, a College of Commissioners that includes the Spanish Teresa Ribera as first vice president of Clean, Fair and Competitive Transition and responsible for Competition.

The German conservative politician faces a second term that, if it is confirmed at midday that she passes the European Parliament’s examination, will begin her work this Sunday, December 1. “We are ready to start working immediately,” Von der Leyen said before the plenary session, which was also attended by the 26 commissioners who will accompany her in the legislature.

He has also promised MEPs that he will address the “concerns” that they raised during the hearings in which their commissioners and vice-presidents were examined, although he has not specified how he will influence the mission letters that he has already sent to each of the members. of your team.
