At least four people died this Tuesday due to the impact of a projectile against a bus in the town of New Kakhovka, located in the province of Kherson and occupied by Russian troops, in an incident that the Russian and Ukrainian authorities are concerned about. they accuse each other.

The pro-Russian governor of Kherson, Vladimir Saldo, was the first to publish a statement on his Telegram account indicating that the attack had resulted in four deaths and several injuries “of varying severity”, without ruling out that the number of victims could increase.

Governor Saldo has taken the opportunity to denounce that this alleged Ukrainian attack “is another example of the cruelty and inhumanity of the kyiv militiamen and their NATO accomplices.” According to pro-Russian authorities, a Ukrainian mortar missile hit the bus.

However, the Kherson Prosecutor’s Office later came forward to address these accusations to ensure that it was the Russian Armed Forces that carried out this attack against a bus stop in New Kakhovka in which there were deaths and injuries. although he has not specified how many.

While the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office has reported that it has launched an investigation to determine what happened, the Russian Investigative Committee has assured that it was the Ukrainian troops that carried out an attack with cluster munitions in the same town of New Kakhovka.

The town of New Kakhovka is located on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, up to where Russian troops have control of the Kherson region. The city gained notoriety in the summer of 2023 after the attack – of which Russia and Ukraine accused each other – against the Kakhovka dam, which caused flooding in the region.

On the other hand, the Russian authorities announced this Tuesday the capture of another Ukrainian town located in the province of Kharkiv (northeast), within the framework of their recent advances on the eastern front.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has stated on its Telegram account that “as a result of decisive actions, the Western group of forces has liberated the town of Kopanki” after fighting with Ukrainian forces, without details on casualties among Russian troops.
