() – Two weeks have passed since Hawaiian Hannah Kobayashi disappeared after failing to board a connecting flight to New York City during a layover at Los Angeles International Airport on Nov. 8.
Her father, Ryan Kobayashi, was found dead on Sunday, after traveling to Los Angeles to look for her.
Ryan Kobayashi’s body was found Sunday around 4:00 a.m. ET on West Century Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to , at an address near the airport. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office determined he died by suicide.
The Kobayashi family said the “devastating tragedy” only adds to their anguish.
“After a tireless search throughout Los Angeles for 13 days, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life. “This loss has greatly aggravated the family’s suffering,” the family said in a statement. release published through a nonprofit group collaborating in the search.

Hannah had plans to spend time with an aunt in upstate New York earlier this month.
On November 8, he took a flight from Maui to Los Angeles. He was supposed to take a connecting flight from Los Angeles International Airport to John F. Kennedy International Airport the same day, but did not board, his sister, Sydni, previously told .
Hannah had the same itinerary as her ex-boyfriend. The couple decided to keep their flights since they couldn’t get a refund, but they would each go their separate ways once they landed in New York, said Sydney.
The next day, Hannah was seen at a Taschen bookstore at The Grove shopping center in Los Angeles, her sister said, and it is unclear why she was there. Hannah then sent a payment via Venmo to two people whose names the family does not recognize, Sydni said.
On Sunday, November 10, posted on YouTube a video showing Hannah at the LeBron XXII Trial Experience, a event which took place at the Nike store in the same shopping center. A photo of the event was also posted on his Instagram accountsaid his sister.
On November 11, the last day the missing woman was heard from, her mother texted her asking if she had arrived in New York. Hannah said no, her sister said. Hannah also sent messages to a friend saying she didn’t feel safe and that someone was trying to steal her identity and funds, according to screenshots her sister sent to .
“Hackers deleted my identity, stole all my funds and have me in a state of madness since Friday,” said a message sent to a friend.
Another message said, “I was tricked into practically handing over all my funds,” followed by another that said, “To someone I thought I loved.”
On November 15, the Los Angeles Police Department’s missing persons unit made a poster about Hannah’s disappearance, saying she was last seen at the airport. He said who had freckles on his face and a tattoo on his forearm.
In a statement posted to Facebook on Nov. 17, Sydni said the family had obtained surveillance footage showing her sister at the downtown Metro train station near the Crypto.com Arena, although it was unclear exactly when it was taken. the images.
In the images, Hannah is not alone and “does not appear to be in good condition,” the family wrote, saying They cannot share more details.
Hannah’s father, Ryan, traveled to Los Angeles shortly after his daughter’s disappearance to help search for her.
“Hannah loved to travel. He loved photography, art, music. I didn’t have a very close relationship with her… growing up. “We haven’t had contact for a while,” said Kobayashi told ‘s Veronica Miracle in an interview last week. “I’m just trying to reconcile.
