Ukraine celebrates this Wednesday its Independence Day: a date that marks the 31st Soviet autonomy of the Ukrainians and that is celebrated in the middle of the Russian invasion. The president of the nation, Volodymyr Zelenskyaddressed his citizens in a video in which he stressed that “we used to talk about peace, now we talk about victory”.
Between declarations of victory and cheers of Ukrainian rebirth, the LEGO company, known for shaping the world through its famous blocks, wanted to commemorate the Ukrainian national spirit with a war video made up of figures made entirely from its product.
Tanks, soldiers, epic music, a sunset… the video simulates a postcard that highlights the efforts of the Ukrainian Army in these six months of Russia’s “special military operation” in the neighboring country.

The Ukrainian president pointed out that in these six months of invasion of Ukraine “they have changed the world, history and our country“. “Six months ago, Russia declared war on us. On February 24, the whole of Ukraine heard explosions and gunshots. That day they told us: ‘you have no chance. But on August 24 we say: Happy Independence Day, Ukraine! “, She emphasized.
“We celebrate this day from different places: some in trenches and holes, others in tanks and combat cars… some in the sea, others in the air. We are fighting for our independence from the front,” Zelensky says in the video.
