MADRID 25 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Ali Lariyani, advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, assured this Sunday that Tehran is preparing to “respond” to Israel in the face of the attack carried out by the Hebrew Army last month against critical military infrastructure of the Islamic Republic, in which five people died.
In an interview with the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Lariyani noted that “this is an important issue” and reported that “military officials are considering various strategies to respond to Israel.”
It is not the first time that the Iranian authorities have expressed themselves in these terms about a future reaction to the Israeli bombing that resulted in the death of four soldiers and a civilian. On this occasion, the statements come after learning that diplomatic officials of the Islamic Republic will meet next Friday the 29th in Geneva with a representation of the European ‘troika’ made up of Germany, France and the United Kingdom to discuss a “variety of bilateral issues, regional and international,” including Tehran’s nuclear program.
Likewise, the four countries will address “the issues of Palestine and Lebanon,” as reported this Sunday by the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baqaei, in a statement.
On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out three waves of attacks against Iranian military targets, in retaliation for the launch of nearly 180 ballistic missiles against Israeli territory weeks earlier.
The hostilities in the Middle East derive from the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 against Israel, which left nearly 1,200 dead and about 250 kidnapped, which launched an offensive against the Gaza Strip in response that now leaves more than 44,200 Palestinians dead and a subsequent invasion of Lebanon after nearly a year of clashes with the Shiite militia party Hezbollah.
