The mission will encompass a variety of tasks, including landing, exploration, sampling, research and return to Earth.
China aims to achieve a manned lunar landing by 2030. Using premanned flight tests and manned lunar missions, China plans to conduct large-scale space science experiments targeting three key areas, including lunar science, Moon-based science, and resource exploration and utilization.
According to the CMSA, the production and ground testing of the prototypes of the Long March-10 carrier rocket, the Mengzhou manned spacecraft, the Lanyue lunar lander, the space suit to be worn by astronauts and the lunar rover are underway as planned.
Ground facilities and equipment for production and testing have been completed and are operational, and construction of the Wenchang spacecraft launch site is progressing as planned.
