The spokesman for the brigades, Abu Obeida, explained in a statement that the group learned of their deaths after spending several weeks without being able to communicate with the militiamen assigned to the custody of both hostages.

“After regaining communication, it emerged that a woman died in an area under Israeli fire,” he said in a statement carried by the Al Mayadin network.

“The life of another Israeli prisoner who was with the dead prisoner is still in danger,” he added in his statement.
