Sofipos achieves historic fundraising of 126,863 million pesos for accounts with returns

In recent years, Sofipos have attracted clients through accounts that give double-digit returns, which has attracted thousands of users looking for alternatives to grow their money.

The high interest rates by Banco de México (Banxico) caused a high demand for the Cetes and the Sofipos sought to fight those rates with their products.

The growth rate in money collected from the Sofipos contrasts with the growth in deposits that the banks have had, which from January to September registered a rate of 7.7%. Despite this growth, the bank continues to be the leader in deposits with 8.5 billion pesos in money.

Since the fourth quarter of 2023, the 36 Sofipos operating in the country have managed to attract more resources than they lend to users. Moody’s Local has warned that the greatest growth in clients and fundraising has occurred among institutions that are betting on digitalization.

Which Sofipos raise the most money in Mexico?

Nu, Finsus and Klar are the Sofipos that capture the largest amount of resources and of the 126,000 million pesos, these three entities accumulate 77.7% of the money.

Nu México is the leader in fundraising with 77,339 million pesos. In second place is Finsus with 10,875 million. There is one thing these institutions have in common: they are looking for a banking license to continue growing their customer base.

Klar, which has not expressed its intentions to seek a banking license, raised 10,366 million pesos.

Yield accounts have been one of the great attractions that these figures have brought and banks through their digital divisions are looking for a part of the market.

Santander announced on November 19th the Openbank launch its digital bank, which began operating with a limited customer base and to whom it offered an account with a yield of 12.5%.
