Sánchez trusts to get "ahead" the energy saving decree despite the fact that the vote is difficult and complex

Aug. 24 () –

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, is confident that the Executive will be able to “forward” the vote to validate the energy saving decree that will take place on Thursday, despite the fact that this will be difficult.

“Votes are always difficult, they are complex, but we end up moving them forward. At any crossroads or dilemma, we are going to defend the interest of the working middle classes,” Sánchez defended at a joint press conference in Colombia with the country’s president. Latin American, Gustavo Petro.

The president stressed that it would be novel “for the main opposition party to support a government decree law.” Along these lines, he has described as “negative opposition” what the Popular Party is carrying out.

“Each one will have to explain the reasons why they vote against a royal decree that is important in an inflationary context for the working middle class,” the president defended.

The Executive has already confirmed the favorable vote of the PNV, Más País-Equo, Compromís and the PRC, and has guarantees that Esquerra Republicana and EH-Bildu will not oppose its validation.

Who the Government will not be able to count on is the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos, who have already advanced their vote against despite recognizing several of the measures as positive, at least PP and Cs, particularly with regard to transport aid railway and scholarships for study.

Approved on August 1, the decree law includes the first package of energy saving measures planned to comply with the voluntary reduction in gas consumption, given the risk of a supply cut by Russia, as well as aid for the promotion of public transport such as free Cercanías, Rodalíes and Media Distancia services from September 1 to the end of the year.
