Russia accuses the US of "rushing" to give more weapons to kyiv "before Trump's inauguration"

The Russian Government stated this Thursday that the United States is trying to “guarantee” that the war in Ukraine extends to 2025 and has accused Washington of “rushing” to give more weapons to kyiv “before the inauguration” of Donald Trump, which will take place in January.

The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zajarova, has indicated that Washington seeks to “guarantee that military operations continue not only this year, but also next year,” before noting that the Pentagon “has rushed to try to transfer what remains of military aid to the kyiv regime before the president (Trump) takes office.”

Thus, he has stated that these volumes of aid “increase every day” and has maintained that “these facts once again confirm the relevance of the special military operation – the official name that Russia gives to the invasion – to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine and eliminate the threats that emanate from its territory”.

“All these objectives will be achieved, just as the Russian leadership has said,” Zajarova pointed out, given the rise in tensions due to Washington’s authorization for kyiv to use its missiles against Russian territory and the sending of anti-personnel mines to Ukraine with the declared objective of contributing to its defense against invasion.

The commitment on mines comes alongside a new military aid package, valued this time at 275 million dollars (about 261 million euros). The batch announced by the Joe Biden Administration includes ammunition for HIMARS launchers, with a range of 80 kilometers, anti-tank weapons and 105 and 155 millimeter artillery projectiles.

In this context, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, ratified on Tuesday a decree with changes to Moscow’s nuclear doctrine, which expands the type and origin of threats to which it could respond with this type of weaponry, including the possibility of use nuclear weapons against a conventional attack.

For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov once again left the door open to contacts with Trump on Wednesday, after the magnate promised after his victory against the current vice president, Democrat Kamala Harris, to work to “end the wars,” including the one in Ukraine.
