More than 20 dead in an operation by Gaza security forces against criminal gangs

The Ministry of the Interior of the government of the Gaza Strip reported this Monday the death of more than 20 people in an operation by security forces against criminal gangs.

“More than 20 people have died in a security operation carried out by the security forces in collaboration with tribal committees,” the Ministry has indicated, according to the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastin’, which is related to Hamas.

The operation, they warn, will not be the last but is part of a broad security offensive planned for a long time and that will be directed against anyone who steals from humanitarian aid trucks, he indicates.

The security forces will “punish with an iron fist” anyone who helps these gangs of thieves, although, he clarifies, it is not directed against any specific clan.

Specifically, they mention the collaboration of the clans of eastern Rafá. “The presence of some of its members in the robber gangs does not hinder the history of these families who have offered hundreds of martyrs in the resistance,” he stressed.

This same Monday, the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) denounced the looting “at gunpoint” of a humanitarian convoy of almost a hundred trucks with aid to the Gaza Strip.
