Israel bombs southern Beirut after new evacuation order

MADRID 14 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Thursday, the Israeli Armed Forces returned to bomb areas in the south of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, after issuing new evacuation orders that mainly affect several buildings, with no information on victims or injuries for the moment.

The attack took place around 8:20 a.m. (local time), shortly after Israeli forces called on residents of several buildings in Ghobeiri, a district in the south of the capital. Thus, they urged the civilian population to move at least 500 meters from buildings before carrying out bombings “against Hezbollah positions”, as they explained in a statement.

They have subsequently issued similar orders in relation to residential buildings located in Choueifat, a city located southeast of Beirut that has also been affected by the latest attacks.

The Army’s Arabic spokesperson Avichay Andraee has urged these populations to leave “immediately” the vicinity of the buildings indicated on several maps that he has disseminated through the Army’s social networks.

On the other hand, the Armed Forces have confirmed that the attacks carried out against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon during the last week have destroyed more than 140 missile launch systems belonging to the group, which used them to “fire against the north and the center of Israel”.

Likewise, they have pointed out that in one of these attacks two senior Hezbollah officials belonging to the Radwan force were killed, whose main objective is to enter Israeli territory, especially in northern areas of the country. In addition, it is responsible for anti-tank units and the implementation of operations in coastal areas.

Israeli forces estimate that around 200 Hezbollah militants have died during clashes and attacks in southern Lebanon over the past week.
