Nov. 13 (Portaltic/EP) –
Perplexity has announced that it will begin introducing ads into its search experience powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) starting this week, tests that will first take place in the United States and with which it hopes to provide companies “a transparent way to advertise.” .
The technology firm announced a few months ago that it planned to include advertising in its search engine, powered by generative AI, with the aim that publishers could obtain income derived from each interaction with their content through a program that TIME, Der Spiegel, Fortune, Entrepreneur, The Texas Tribune and WordPress.com
With this it seeks to offer them access to the application programming interfaces (API) of its large language model and development support, so that they can incorporate a custom response engine on your website, which will only cite content with this editor.
The company has now announced that it will begin experimenting with the ad format starting this week and will first offer it in the United States, where it will show ‘sponsored follow-up questions’which will be located next to these search engine responses.
That way, when you ask a question about, for example, how to look for a job or apply to fill a vacancy, a suggested promotional question will be included, an option that will be indicated below the sponsored question.
Perplexity has commented that the answers to these questions will continue to be generated with its technology and will not be written or edited by the advertising brands. This, because it seeks to protect its “usefulness, precision and objectivity“, as recognized in a statement published on his blog.
In this he has also shared some of the companies that will be part of these first tests, among which are the employment platform Indeed, Whole Foods Market, Universal McCann and PMG, among others.
Perplexity has also said that, with this feature, it seeks to provide these organizations “a transparent way to advertise” through its platform and that, “rather than trying to manipulate responses,” this solution will serve to encourage users to “express your curiosity about a brand.”
It has also recognized that advertising programs like this one allow us to generate income to share with publishers and that advertising is the best way to guarantee a stable and scalable income stream.
He also recalled that, although it is an experiment and the formats may evolve, two principles will remain in force. First, the ads will not change your commitment to maintaining a reliable service that it gives you direct and unbiased answers and, second, that it will never share user information with advertisers.
