MADRID 10 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least two Saudi soldiers have been killed and another wounded in an attack on a military camp in Yemen, allegedly carried out by an employee of the Yemeni Defense Ministry, Saudi authorities reported this Saturday.
“An officer and a non-commissioned officer were martyred and one officer was wounded as a result of a treacherous and cowardly attack,” said Saudi Arabian Defense Ministry spokesman General Turki al Maliki, according to the Saudi state news agency. SPA.
Al Maliki has assured that the attack was carried out by an affiliate of the aforementioned Yemen ministry while the officers were training in the Sayoun military camp, in the center of the country.
Saudi Arabia, which is geographically located between Israel and Yemen, has for years led an international coalition against the Houthi insurgency during the Yemen war.
The Houthis, for some time now, have launched a campaign of attacks against ships in the Red Sea in solidarity, they say, with the Palestinian population of Gaza in the face of Israel’s bombings, but until now they had never launched an attack of such scope as the one that occurred on Friday in Tel Aviv.
The rebel group, which has received funding and assistance from Iran in the conflict, considers Riyadh its declared enemy for having been the most prominent ally of the Yemeni government recognized by the international community.
